Audiowork Orange

I played drums for Audiowork Orange from 1999 - 2005. I´m gonna tell you something about that time:
How did I come to join Audiowork Orange?
Well, I got a call from Julia one day, asking me whether I would like to participate in a project of hers and her boyfriend Tassilo´s. He had made music on his computer for years, and was finally willing and ready to make that a real band with real musicians. I was instantly hooked after hearing the material. His music is just great for drummers looking for a creative challenge: many breaks and meter changes, "Lautlos grau" for instance is in 7/8. We finally held our first rehearsal in the Reese-barracks basement. Now that was one small, dirty, and wet dwelling! And we had to share it with 4 other bands (without the renter´s knowledge)! We soon moved in a room next to the "Attic" studio. But back the that 1st rehearsal, where we met our guitarist Wolfgang Knoll, called "Tschiesäß": the four original members of Audiowork Orange were complete: Tassilo Pollerspöck, Julia Koller, Wolfgang Knoll and yours truly, Christian Eichlinger. We participated twice in the "Band des Jahres" contest, and had two gigs in Thüringen until 2003, when the final piece of the puzzle came along: a keyboarder, by the name of Nicolai Hartmann. He finally replaced his predecessor, the trusty HD-recorder! Nicolai was a good fit for Audiowork Orange, and was instantly involved in the creative process. He was laying down a solid foundation for the rest of the band, and his solos just rocked! In 2005 we had a gig at the Spectrum club in Augsburg. After this one unfortunately only one more with me on the drumkit followed, as I had a somewhat nasty argument with Tassilo, something I am very sorry now! But I was out of the band then. Audiowork Orange finally found a new drummer, and I attended their gig at the Rockfabrik, though it was a strange feeling to be in front of the stage rather than on it! In retrospect, it was a very good time I had with the band. It was musically very satisfying, and layed the foundation for my own composing. If Tassilo wouldn´t have enabled me to try the program, who knows if I would be where I am now…Thanks Tassilo!
